Short Courses
NVTC believes in developing the skills and efficiency of employees to increase the success of organizations. Our centre provides separate short courses that are customized and focused on specific capabilities and skills based on the requirements set by companies and organizations.
Short courses will be offered in the following fields of study and can be customize depending upon the request and circumstances:
ECITB Level 2 and Level 3 Qualification & Certification Courses
- Electrical Maintenance & Testing.
- Course Description: This course will deal with routine maintenance activities such as
performing portable appliance testing on class 1 and 2 portable electric tools, completing
routine inspections and testing of electrical machines, distribution circuits and associated
equipment, and performing routine maintenance activities on electrical machines, distribution
circuits and associated equipment.

- Electrical Design & Installation.
- Course Description: This course will teach the learner ho to complete routine installation
activities including the installation of circuit wiring/cabling, enclosures and equipment (plant),
the installation of circuit protection devices, the installation of earthing arrangements to
electrical circuits and connected equipment, and circuit testing to confirm safety and integrity
of the installed circuit/system.

- Machining.
- Course Description: This course will instruct the students on how to shape mechanical
components and equipment by material removal using hand tools and machining methods. This
course will also instruct on the processes of supporting the assembly of mechanical components
and equipment to meet required specifications; and supporting the positioning and installation
of mechanical plant and equipment.

- Welding.
- Course Description: This course will deal with routine welding operations using low carbon
steel. These techniques could include one or more of the following:
• Joining materials in engineering construction by TIG welding
• Joining materials in engineering construction by MMA welding, and/or
• Joining materials in engineering construction by MIG/MAG welding

- Technical Drawing.
- Course Description: This course will examine simple and routine functions associated with the
draughting discipline. The activities taught in this course will include being able to read and
extract information from technical drawings and specifications and utilizing this information to
perform common draughting tasks such as back-draughting, the creation of drawings from
prepared sketches, the revision of company standard component drawings, and the markingup of prints.

- AutoCAD.
- Course Description: : In this course students will be expected to perform activities throughout all
stages of the design process including interpreting technical drawings and specifications to
establish design information, identifying factors likely to affect design decisions, the
conception, evaluation and development of design options, producing CAD models and
traditional engineering drawings, and communicating design information to internal and
external parties. Due to the range of activities, a student may only be engaged in certain
aspects of the complete design lifecycle.

- Pipefitting.
- Course Description: This course will include pipefitting activities including shaping engineering
construction pipework components using hand tools, supporting the assembly of engineering
construction pipework components to meet specifications, and supporting the positioning and
installation of engineering construction pipework.

Individual Short Courses – Health & Safety
- International Health & Safety Passport (IHSP) Foundation.
- Course Description: This course will examine all areas of international health & safety in the
workplace including fundamental safety considerations, hazards, risks, and controls, common
work place hazards, and accidents & incidents./li>
- Awarding Body: Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB),UK
- International Health & Safety Passport (IHSP) Advanced.
- Course Description: This course is a continuation and next level of the Foundation course listed
above. The course will still examine all areas of international health & safety in the
workplace including fundamental safety considerations, hazards, risks, and controls, common
work place hazards, and accidents & incidents, but in much more detail. This course also looks
at working safety at heights and fire safety.
- Awarding Body: Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB),UK
- International Health & Safety Passport (IHSP) Supervisor.
- Course Description: This course is a continuation and next level of the IHSP course sequence
listed above. The course will still examine all areas of international health & safety in the
workplace including fundamental safety considerations, hazards, risks, and controls, common
work place hazards, and accidents & incidents, but in much more detail. This course also looks
at working safety at heights and fire safety. Successful completion at this stage entitles those
with Supervisor level to conduct IHSP programs at the Foundation and Advanced levels./li>

- NEBOSH Safety Simplified.
- Course Description: This course will give practical, real-life skills to help improve health and
safety in any workplace setting. Safety simplified is relevant to any business, in any sector
utilizing real-life case studies and cutting edge learning practices relating to health and safety.

- International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Course Description: This course will prepare trainees with current knowledge on occupational
health and safety including environmental awareness, safety precautions, hazard prevention,
danger recognition, and risk assessment. This course will conclude with both written and
practical assessments to verify student acquisition of knowledge.

Individual Short Courses – General
- English IELTS Preparation.
- Course Description:This course is designed to assist trainees in improving their attainment of
the English language as measured by the IELTS Exams./li>
- Awarding Body: British Council
- Air Conditioning.
- Course Description: Trainees will be shown the basic components of an air conditioner. They
will also learn how to take the air conditioner apart and put it back together again. Finally,
they will learn how to recognize and repair minor damage and perform preventative
maintenance on air conditioning units.

- Tire Services & Maintenance.
- Course Description: This course is aimed at showing trainees how to correctly analyze tire
issues on their car. This course will include general tire safety, how to change a tire, tips for
buying tires, and preventative maintenance tips for tires. This course will also inform on how to
take care of tires for less wear and tear and longer lasting performance./li>

- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
- Course Description: This course deals with the study of the operation, design and function of
various pneumatic elements commonly used in the industry. It presents the different pneumatic
symbols and explains how they are used in schematic diagrams in accordance with ANSI, DIN
and ISO standards. Sufficient time is allocated for hands-on exercises to achieve hook-up and
troubleshooting skills of pneumatic circuits. This course also provides the learner with the skills
and knowledge to enable them to develop general scientific thinking to make sense of their
daily personal and workplace lives.
